Known for their brief, delicate lives, mayflies have long symbolised transience, renewal, and the beauty of living in the present.
Part of my 2026 weekly painting series, where I create a new original artwork each week, this piece is inspired by a idea from a friend as well as the artistic style of the character Kya Clark in Delia Owens' novel Where the Crawdads Sing.
My hope is that this reflects the quiet stillness of nature, giving a small, often overlooked creature space and attention.
Printed on high-quality fine art paper, this nature-inspired artwork brings a calm, thoughtful presence to any space.
All prints come with white margin border of approximately 25mm in length. This offers buyers the option of trimming their print for a suitable frame. This border is signed by Liz but all prints are also signed on the reverse should trimming this border be necessary.
